Ore Car Mining Claim
SNGMS maintains the Ore Car Mining Claim. Varieties of agate can be found here including Christmas agate, lilac agate, and bacon agate. SNGMS members are encouraged to deposit their extra material here, so many non-native rocks may be found, some already slabbed! Geocaches are established on the claim for public use.
All are welcome to collect here; however, no commercial digging is allowed. Enjoy SNGMS hospitality at their mining claim off of North Shore Road, just outside of the Lake Mead National Park boundary
Before You Go: Check to be sure there is access to the mining claim since it requires access to Lake Mead Recreation Area. Annual passes may be required. You can purchase the pass online! The annual pass is $45 and works immediately. All you have to do is show them the email receipt on your phone or you can print it out.
Access is from the turnoff at mile marker 16 on North Shore road, in the park. Go to the end of the parking area there; into the wash. At the other side of the wash is a BLM sign pointing to the old Anniversary Mine. Follow the road and you will come to the Ore Car sign.
